Shine

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond meaure.  It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.  We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?  Actually, who are you not to be?  You are a child of God.  Your playing small does not serve the world.  There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.  We are all meant to shine, as children do.  We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.  It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.  And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.  As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

                                                                                      -Marianne Williamson
Awesome, huh?  Possibly my favorite quote of all time.  There’s nothing more I can  add except to  invite you to sit with that one.  Take it line by line and let it seep into your pores.  This is for everyone to really internalize – men, women, children.  We all are meant to shine.  Can you imagine how much brighter our world will be when we all give ourselves permission to shine?  I can feel it already!

  • My favorite quote as well. Too often we minimize who we are thinking that will somehow allow enough light for another to shine, as if there was only so much light to go around. Still…it is a concept that bears repeating…that the light shines forth from within us as we become more and more of who God has intended us to be and as we remain connected to the spirit. I know when I am in this place because everything feels right with the world and I feel really, really good! I interpret that emotional feedback as a nudge from God saying: “Yep…you are on the right track…keep it up!”
I am reminded of the song the kids sing in church…”This little light of mine”.
    Let it Shine! Thanks!
