Mediator

The other day I heard Jesus called, “the mediator of the new covenant”.  I love those words.

 What is a mediator?

I looked it up and it means a person who intervenes to bring agreement among people who are in a dispute.

Sounds like a peacemaker.

This makes me think of my favorite prayer. I wear a bracelet with the  Prayer of St. Francis on it so every day I’m reminded of my role in this world.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.

Oh Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled, as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Have you ever thought of yourself as an instrument of peace?  Do you know you can bring pardon, faith, hope, light and joy to the world?  Are you a mediator?
