The Other Side

“Grief does not change you, Hazel. It reveals you.”
― John GreenThe Fault in Our Stars

I’m grateful for grief.

I guess.

I mean, it does reveal us, right?

It’s hard though.  I guess I’d like to say I’m thankful for all of it and grief is part of it.

Honestly, maybe I’m not thankful for grief, I’m thankful for God who carries me through my grief.  I’m thankful for the “other side of grief” which is wisdom and peace.  I think.

Oh, I don’t know.  I want to be thankful for grief.  I guess I’m just thankful that we make it through it and that there is always hope.

I’m thankful for hope.

Yes, that’s it.

I’m thankful for hope.

Image and quote from The Fault In Our Stars by John Green.  Possibly the BEST BOOK EVER. No joke. Run out and get it now and plan on not doing anything else for hours until you are done.  Give it to your teenagers too.  It’s SOOOOO GOOD.  The kind of book that makes you weep but you love it. You will stop reading just to really let the words you just read sink in because you can’t believe how moved you are.  This is the kind of book that changes you.  You can’t forget these characters.  So much so that we named our new dog after one of the lead characters, Augustus Waters.  You will fall in love with these people and this writer.  Go. Read it quick before the movie comes out.  The writing is Unbelievable.  No joke.  Go. Get it. Report back.

    • The Fault in Our Stars is so good. It’s a “tween” book but is really so good for all of us. I literally have not read something that good in a long time. My daughter and I read it at the same time and we both loved it. It’s being made into a movie. I can’t wait to hear what you think!
