Your song

Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them.
-Henry David Thoreau

Ugh. That is really sad…All of those unsung songs.

I recently went to hear an author speak about how to get a book published.  I was joking that I’d be sitting there with all the other people who have an unpublished book within them.  Or an unsung song.  Or an unfinished screenplay.  Or a degree not finished or a mountain not climbed or a race not run.

Let’s not let that happen to us.

What is your legacy?

What if the book never gets published?  Write it anyway.
What if the song never gets heard?  Sing it anyway.
What if the degree doesn’t matter?  Pursue it anyway.
What if the screenplay doesn’t sell?  Write it anyway.
What if I can’t reach the summit?  Begin and climb as high as you can.
What if I can’t finish the race? Begin and run as far as you can.

What if the book is published?
What if the song is a hit?
What if you get your Ph.D.?
What if you win an Academy Award?
What if you summit Everest?
What if you run a marathon?

How do you want to be remembered?

I love that quote that says…

Life is not a journey to the grave with the
intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming –
WOW – What a Ride!

 Right???

Jordan Romero, 13 years old, the youngest person to summit Everest.
