I’m Sue Bidstrup.
I have many names…I’m called mom, daughter, wife (well, actually he doesn’t call me wife – maybe honey?), Mrs. Bidstrup…You get the point, we have several names that correspond with all the roles we play in our lives. I’m a wife, mother, writer, Holy Yoga instructor, friend, sister…etc.
As I’ve gotten older and hopefully wiser, I’ve realized that there is one role that supersedes all the others. There is one thing I am that never changes. It is not based on circumstance or wealth or education or position or age. I am God’s child. I am a daughter of the Creator of the Universe. I am chosen and beloved.
So now, as I write this “about” page for the blog, it has me thinking. I could name all the things I do but that wouldn’t really be who I am. I could name all the roles I play but that wouldn’t be the whole truth about me. See, what I know now is that my inheritance in the kingdom of God…the fact that I am a daughter of the King…that is my identity.
The beautiful thing about this realization is that it’s your identity too. If you were writing an “about” page it could be the same as mine. You too are a child of the King. Loved and redeemed and forgiven.
We are the same in all the ways that matter.
That’s what Great Big Yes is all about. This is a place to share our struggles and our celebrations knowing that we are not in this alone. We get to “do life” together here. Real life…our imperfectly perfect lives…all of us together…covered in Grace…accepted and loved.
We gather here for authentic conversation.
So who am I?
I am a sinner saved by grace.
I am a student of Jesus and His Word and His radical message of Love.
I am passionate about sharing His Word with others.
I am grateful you are here.
