Hi Friends, this is the last podcast of the year! I will be taking December off from posting podcasts but will return in January with many amazing stories to share! Please reach out to me if you have a story you would like to tell or you know someone who has said “YES!” to a greater calling on their lives!
I am thrilled to be able to introduce you to Brooke Crowder. Brooke is the founder of The Refuge. The Refuge for DMST (Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking) has a very specific mission: To provide trauma-informed, long-term restoration shelter and services to girls 11-17 years old, who have been exploited through sex trafficking.
I first met Brooke when I saw a video in our church of a survivor sharing her story and I couldn’t get her off my mind. Brooke and I met for coffee and talked about the plans for The Refuge and the possibility of me teaching Holy Yoga there. Listen in to the podcast to hear Brooke’s story of how God called her to create The Refuge!
Visit the website at: https://therefugeaustin.org There are many ways to donate and volunteer and support The Refuge. Please join us in prayer as they are in the building stage now and eager to be able to have beds available for girls who need one. I’m so grateful to Brooke for her work and for sharing her story here!
Allison LaBianca is the International Missions Director for Holy Yoga. Currently, her home base is in Los Angeles but you will find her traveling around the world connecting with people of other cultures. Her heart is to experience the greatness of God by engaging in the diversity of all of God’s people, and offer avenues of healing to survivors of trauma.
Her desire is to see people awakened and free….awakened to their truest identity and free to move and breathe in the world unshackled.
She is currently developing curriculum to be used globally for those working with survivors of trauma who are looking to incorporate body based therapy into their programs. Allison teaches trauma informed classes in Los Angeles as well. Follow her on instagram @allisonlabianca to be updated about new offerings coming in 2017.
As you know, this blog and podcast is all about saying, “YES!”. And sometimes that requires saying “no” first. Often when God comes into our hearts, He shows us beliefs and habits that may no longer be serving us. We must say “no” to the strongholds in our life in order to make way for our “YES!” to the new thing God is doing in us and for us and with us. My brave friend, Danette, has done that. On the podcast she tells her story of addiction and recovery. She is real and brave and strong. This is a story of freedom. I know you will be encouraged and inspired.
Thank you for sharing your story Danette!
