Sue Bidstrup / Great Big YES!

Encouraging Women to Live Faithful, Bold, Abundant Lives!

Courageous Joy!

What is courageous joy?

It’s something you choose.

It is NOT “good vibes only” fake joy.

This is Joy for deep thinkers, people paying attention, believers who know hope in the midst of pain.

This is ACTIVE joy. It requires intentional thought and action.

This is for doers, achievers, hopers, encouragers, leaders and all who are willing to say YES! to an abundant life!

This is not passive or something that just happens to “some people who are lucky.”

The difference between you and the person who is defeated and void of hope is that YOU CHOOSE to believe in the power of goodness.

While the world doubles down on despair, you stand in the gap with courage. You have the audacity to believe that God’s promises are true.

You can watch the news and not be devastated by it. (Although I recommend cutting way back on the news.)

You can sit with people who are in pain and have empathy for them while embodying hope and encouragement.

In the darkness, you see light and you refuse to hide it or dim it or blow it out.

The world may laugh or scoff at your “glass half full” way of seeing, but they don’t know about taking every thought captive.

True joy comes from the Lord and it is not circumstantial. It’s deep in the marrow of your bones and never leaves you.

But if we don’t guard our hearts and minds, that joy becomes quieter and we may start bending toward fear or despair.

Be on alert. Stay sober minded.

The world needs courageous people. Brave warriors who fight darkness with light, sadness with joy, despair with hope.

We have been given this gift of life. Right now. In this place and time. For a purpose.

God doesn’t make mistakes. Ask Him where you need to be more courageous. Ask Him to send you to the dark corners in need of hope. Then show up blazing.

Start with your own mind. Blow away the cobwebs. Take a good look around. Speak Truth to those thoughts running wild.

Breathe. Pray. Rise up.
