Something really wonderful came out of a post I wrote (Breaking Bread together). A friend from home commented about her dad and my dad and their ability to have opposing political views and still be friends. This took me back. If you read my blog regularly, you know my Dad passed away 13 years ago.

Choosing “Reality”
Okay, so the other day, I’m watching “The Real Housewives of New Jersey”. My mom is in the room and so is my daughter. (I’m sure you know where this is going.) My mom watched about two minutes and then loudly asks, “Susan, what do you like about this?” It took me a few minutes

History
My son asked me to take him to the Field Museum to see the 9/11 exhibit. This is an interesting request from a 3rd grader. I told him it will be sad. He said, “I know Mom but I love to learn about history”. That’s where we are now. 9/11 is “history”. I can’t believe

Just between us
People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and

Be Yourself
To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best day and night to make you everybody else, means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight, and never stop fighting. -e.e. Cummings I remember going to a 40 year old birthday party and everyone was dressed the same.
