The people in Colorado have it right.
Here’s how I see it. They live in the most beautiful place. It’s like when God created Colorado, he was having a really, really good artistic moment. It’s perfect.
The people there know that. It’s not like they take it for granted. They seek the beauty and they live in awe of it.
Here’s how they roll…
They WAIT. They wait in quiet wonder. They wait for the snow. They PRAY and they “do snow dances” according to the kid at the ski shop but they do not demand. They do not whine and cry. They ACCEPT what comes. They know they are not in charge. They coolly wait.
Then when the snow comes, they CELEBRATE! They cheer, they smile, they high five. They say things like, “Isn’t this so awesome?” while they stare at the mountain in awe.
Then they PLAY. They get their butts out there and they play. They ski, they snowboard, they snowshoe, they hike, they sled, they tube, they make snow angels. They sit in hot tubs outside while the snow is falling and marvel at the beauty of it all.
So here is what I re-learn every time I go to Colorado. God is an awesome creator. He made this land for us. My role is not as complicated as I make it.
For the new year, here’s my plan. Wait…Pray…Accept…Celebrate…Play. Sound good?
(This is me making a “Y” for YES! :))
