Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.
–Norman Vincent Peale
That’s what I’m wishing for…a magic wand.
First, I’ll wave it under the tree and presents will appear.
Then, I’ll wave it over the presents I have already purchased and they will be wrapped beautifully.
Then I’ll wave it over my house and it will be clean.
What the heck, then I’ll wave it over my body and it will be lighter and firmer and stronger.
Wouldn’t that be nice?
I guess as you get older, Christmas becomes something different. I watched The Polar Express again this year and I cried at the end (again this year). The part about the bell just kills me.
“At one time, most of my friends could hear the bell. But as years passed, it fell silent for all of them. Even Sarah found, one Christmas, that she could no longer hear it’s sweet sound. Though I have grown old, the bell still rings for me. As it does for all who truly believe.”
It’s not that I can’t EVER hear the bell’s sweet sound. It’s just that in December, I’m busy and tired and worried. I feel older and for Christmas, older doesn’t always mean wiser. Sometimes it just means crankier.
So this year, I am asking for a magic wand. I will use it for Christmas and for New Year’s and we will all be renewed. You will get one too. It’s part of my wish. We will all have magic wands.
Picture all of us waving our wands and everything becoming softer and more beautiful.
Sick children are restored to health.
Families are reunited in forgiveness and love.
Soldiers are home in peace.
Married couples are strengthened in love and understanding.
There is no more violence.
People of all ages feel accepted and loved.
Laughter.
Peace.
Forgiveness.
Hope.
Promise.
Go ahead, add your own wishes and wave your wand.
I can feel the change coming. And I can hear the bells ringing.
Merry Christmas!
I’m wishing you all a New Year filled with bells ringing and wands waving.

Oh thank you sooo much for sharing your wonderful words. It is very refreshing to read something so authentic & truly kind. Thank you again & have a very Merry & Blessed Christmas & 2012.
And now….my eyes are filled with tears! Wishing you all of the magic that your wand will bring. You might start wrapping just in case…. skip the cleaning.
Enjoy and enjoy and enjoy!

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”
