Hi Everyone! I posted a new podcast today! It’s short and sweet! About 15 minutes and a great way to kick start your week! I’m excited to talk to you about life coaching and give you some tools to use in your own life. Today’s topic is Taking every thought captive. Your homework is to notice your thoughts. That’s it. You don’t have to change them. Just notice them. Maybe write them down so you can see them. No judgement. Just awareness. What is the thought you are having?
Many of us have never even considered our thoughts, let alone entertained the idea we have control over them! Some of us just roll through life thinking it happens to us and we have no control. This is not true! You have power in your own life to make choices. But first, you have to recognize what you are thinking.
Maybe what comes up is… “I could never…” or “I always…” or “That’s for other people…” or “I’m not worthy…” or “That’s just the way it is…” or “I’m stupid/fat/lazy/unlucky/unloved/misunderstood…” or maybe you are always offended. Just notice. Don’t judge yourself. Just notice and recognize if there might be patterns. Are you thinking the same thought all day? Are you always the victim?
This can feel like hard work. It is hard work! Give yourself grace. But don’t let yourself off the hook. Invest the time in yourself to look at your thoughts. Get curious! It’s the beginning of creating a life you love.
Let’s get started! If you want to, you could grab a journal and write down your thoughts each day. Sometimes the act of seeing it on a piece of paper makes it real and you will wonder, “Do I really think that?” It highlights the thoughts that are out of alignment with who you want to be.
